If you are looking to dive deeper into astronomy, start your journey with the #1 recommend app for amateur astronomers since 2009. Not clear which version of SkyFi.SkySafari 7 Plus goes beyond most basic stargazing apps by providing you with a full-featured space simulator with telescope control. Also, there is a message from August, 2016, with the same problem. PS, maybe the 2014 posts are irrelevant, but the error message is identical. And when one sees a checkmark beside one's own equipment, I think it should actually work as expected. So how about a return for a refund? I understand that compatibility with many different mounts can't be an easy situation. On the other hand, I'm sure that you can understand that I don't particularly enjoy having paid $200 for something that doesn't work. I can understand that you don't want to give up any limited supply of earlier versions. The release notes for that version confirm that there was in fact a problem connecting to Gen 3 servo cats, and now it's fixed (see Rev 2.3).So I don't think it's true that "the only problems with SkyFi2 are when people hook it up incorrectly." Was that same fix applied to SkiFi 3 firmware? Yes, I understand that the firmware is different in the SkyFi 2.

Has that update been applied to the firmware in SkyFi 3? If not, any chance I could exchange my SkyFi 3 for this earlier version? Comment actions I do note that the "current" SkyFi 2, which has USB, has a different version of the firmware, where a change note for version 2.3 specifically addressed USB support for Servocat Gen 3, which didn't previously work. I can't tell if that earlier version had USB or not. Also, the SkyFi in the note is an earlier version. It has been replaced by a type "B" USB connector. The current "Gen 3" servocats do not have that connector.

That note is only relevant to (I believe) "Gen 2" servocats, which had an RJ-11 serial connector for computer interface.

Only one of a dozen or so people got the setup to work, and it's not clear what made him successful.įinally, let me note that the page you referred me to in your last email, where one can download the firmware, contains a note about how to connect to servocat with SkyFi. There is a relatively extensive thread on the Servocat yahoo news group indicating the same symptoms from 2014, with SS4. Note that I am not the only person to have this problem. The SkyFi 3 is indeed updated to the latest firmware. I know this to be the case, because the Servocat on the Obsession 18UC requires a right-angle connection on the USB "B" connector, which was supplied by Stellar Cat, and is the only one like that I have.

Yes, I am using the same USB cable for the SkyFi3 to Servocat connection as I used for Mac to Servocat.
